Why Karibu Kite Center?

Your Instructors
Tsuma and Abdul are not just certified coaches — they are lifelong kiters who grew up on Diani Beach. They've taught hundreds of students, from complete beginners to advanced freeriders.

The Piano Teacher Philosophy
We do not rush. We build solid foundations. Before you ever fly a full kite, you understand wind windows, body position, and muscle memory. The result: you progress faster and stay safer.

A Real Community
Monthly downwinders, equipment sharing, and an active WhatsApp group. When you learn here, you join a family of kiters who ride Diani year-round.
Our Packages
From first steps to confident freeriding. All packages include equipment and personal instruction.

Discover Kite – First Touch
3.0 hours
Your first 3 hours on the beach. You will learn wind theory, kite setup, body dragging, and flying a trainer kite. No prior experience required. Perfect for curious beginners who want to see if kiting is for them.

Foundation Course – Water Start
9.0 hours
The core course. 9 hours spread over 3–4 days. From body dragging through the full water start and first rides. You will complete IKO Levels 1 and 2. This is where most students have their first "I'm flying" moment. Includes daily video review session.

Progression – Riding & Transitions
6.0 hours
For students who can ride upwind but want to master transitions, jumping basics, and consistent board control. 6 hours of focused coaching with video analysis after each session. Ideal for returning students or those coming from other schools.
Learn Like a Piano Student
Our 4-stage system is built on the same principles as classical music education: slow down, perfect the technique, then add power.

“Suddenly everything clicked.”
I've been to many kite schools but Tsuma's method is truly unique. He made me do the foundations properly before entering the water. At first I was impatient, but then – suddenly – everything clicked. Best course of my life.

“After 9 hours I was actually riding!”
As a beginner I was quite scared of the kite. Tsuma really gave me the confidence to go step by step. After 9 hours I was actually riding! The equipment was top notch, the beach beautiful. I recommend Karibu Kite to everyone visiting Diani.

“The highlight of my entire Kenya trip.”
The combo package was more than worth it. The downwinder on the last day was the highlight of my entire Kenya trip. Tsuma's German is flawless by the way – I never thought I'd be able to do a course in German in Kenya.

“By day 3 I was riding upwind.”
Abdul was incredibly patient with me. I'm a slow learner and I was worried about holding the group back. But at Karibu Kite it's always 1-on-1 or 2-on-1 max. I had Abdul's full attention every session. By day 3 I was riding upwind. Absolutely thrilled.

“Safety is really taken seriously here.”
Safety is really taken seriously here. Tsuma cancels the session if conditions are not right – without discussion. That gave me confidence. Diani Beach is also a fantastic kite spot: flat water, consistent wind, barely any boats.
— Andreas F.

“For beginners absolutely first choice.”
Very good course, clear structure. I would have liked to learn more about advanced jump techniques, but for beginners and early intermediates Karibu Kite is absolutely first choice. The video analysis is a huge advantage.

“More in 3 days than two weeks elsewhere.”
Tsuma taught me more in 3 days than my previous school in two weeks. The trick is really the method: everything is broken into the smallest parts. If something doesn't work, we go back to the previous step. No stress, no ego.
— Daniel W.

“I felt safe at every point.”
As a mother of two, the safety conversation was very important to me. Tsuma explained everything: emergency procedures, self-rescue, kite security. I felt safe at every point. Diani Beach is also wonderful for families.
— Claudia H.
